Keep Potatoes Fresh Longer

Hi Reader,

Are your potatoes always going bad?

Are you tired of your potatoes always turning into this?

Saving your potatoes from turning into sprouty little aliens might just be a matter of storing them properly.

The thing that always gets me about food storage and reducing my food waste is that things like potatoes and shallots, onions, or other alliums are both recommended to be stored in cool, dry places and away from sunlight.

But that doesn't mean that they should be stored together. Onions and other alliums, like shallots, garlic, and onions, give off ethylene gas.

This is a plant hormone that accelerates ripening, which then causes potatoes to sprout.

If you want your potatoes to look like this rather than this for much longer, make sure you store your garlic, onions, and potatoes separately.
